Benoît Cruysmans

Benoît Cruysmans has been at the forefront in the design & construction industry in Belgium, France, Italy and in the State of New York since 2002. The expertise he developed in the field of Sustainability and ESG led to his appointment as Director of the ESG & Sustainability Solutions Department for Belgium and Luxembourg in the Summer 2023. Before joining CBRE, Benoît successfully launched the ESG Services in another Real Estate Company, reflecting his commitment to sustainability, his ability to innovate and to mobilize teams for a greater purpose. Benoît’s passion for environmental and social questions have always been central in his career. He has dedicated a significant portion of his professional life to sustainable building design in different contexts. His experience as a founder leading his own architectural practice for 18 years have provided him with a robust sense of entrepreneurship and a deep knowledge of residential, commercial, educational, hotels and office real estate projects. His experience as project manager in different companies and for the largest Belgian retail company completed his knowledge in sustainable logistics and retail constructions. In addition to developing strong operational capabilities, Benoît has been teaching at university for 10 years, focusing on scientific excellence and critical thinking. In his role as ESG & Sustainability Solutions Director, Benoît leads the local team and enhances the integration of ESG Services within the other lines of business. He advises clients on ESG strategy developments and implementation, and on current sustainability developments such as EED, CSRD, SFDR, EU-Taxonomy, NetZero, and CRREM. Benoît drives the development of the ESG Services, such as ESG Due Diligences, Decarbonization Audits, Building certifications, Physical Climate Risks Assessments, Life Cycle Assessments, Green leases.

Benoît completed the Sustainable Real Estate program at the University of Cambridge, where he learned how to tackle sustainability challenges within the build environment to capitalize on industry opportunities. He obtained an Executive Master in Business Administration from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, a Certificate in history of Arts from the Université Catholique de Louvain and a Master in Architecture from the KU Leuven (Sint Lucas Gent).
